My name is Luis Gonçalves and I am an Agile Coach, Co-Author, International Speaker and a Blogger. I have been working in the software industry since 2003, being an Agile practitioner since 2007. I have had successfully released many products in massively popular platforms like Nokia’s Symbian and MeeGo. I am a co-author of a book called: “Getting Value Out of Agile Retrospectives” with a foreword of Esther Derby. Currently translated in 5 different languages, more coming in the near future.
I am a co-founder of a MeetUp group in Munich, Germany called High Performing Teams. I like to write and share ideas with the world and this made me a passionate blogger and international speaker. I get inspiration from my professional life and from all books that I read every week. I am a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner and I have pioneered agile adoption at different companies and different contexts.

I was responsible for carrying out Agile coaching across a Product Organization. The product organization consisted of approximately 150 people, roles spanned from Scrum Masters, team members to Product Owners. I was the principal contact person for entire Agile training within hybris, as well as responsible for delivering it. I supported the full organization with SAFe implementation with special attention to teams, to the release train engineer and the Program Manager. Ramped up and maintained the Communities of Practices within the Product Organization. A more strategic task within this organization was the responsibility of design and support Agile visibility to provide the company a reference within agile communities all over the world, this was a fantastic way to support the recruitment of talented employees.
My role at Avira was acting as Agile Coach for 4 agile teams (20 people) with a focus on helping teams to deliver and adopting agile software development and support the support of the Release Train Engineer, specific role from SAFe. The teams that I helped became the most reliable and productive teams within the whole organization. I achieved this by transforming a group of people into true teams. These teams became self-organizing entities that took ownership a n d learned how to solve the problems they were facing. One of the tools that helped the team to achieve this state was the use of value stream mapping. There were some other problems that I did help them to solve like bad communication between product owner and the team, very low visibility of progress on the work to be delivered and inability to make technical decisions on their own.
